Two Busy Gals

Before we had Madison, Ryan used to travel a lot with his previous job. He would be gone two to three weeks out of the month. When we got pregnant we knew that his traveling would not be good for our family. Therefore, he took a new job where he is much happier and this position doesn't require traveling which makes me much happier too.

Even though his new job doesn't require traveling he had an opportunity to take a trip with his company and he volunteered to go. Ryan's company employs mentally and physically handicapped adults. Every year they take everyone that is able to go on a trip. This year they've driven buses to New Orleans where they spent a couple of days. They are currently on a Mexican cruise that will return back to New Orleans where everyone will again board the buses and head home. This trip is lasting a total of ten days. While it's not really a vacation for Ryan, since he is responsible for a group of men, he is getting a great opportunity to see places that we've never been.

I'm not quite sure how I handled Ryan's traveling with his old job. I guess I just took it as par for the course and accepted it. This time I just feel so lonely. Even though I have Madison I really do miss him. I was nervous about Ryan leaving me as a single mommy for ten whole days. He and I make a great team when it comes to caring for Madison. She has been great and taking care of her has been a breeze. It's me, my heart, that is aching for my dear hubby to return.

Madison keeps asking for her daddy. "Where dada go?" So, to keep our minds off of missing our man we've stayed busy.

Madison loves her kitchen and plays in it daily. What makes it especially exciting is that I always give her some "tea" (aka water) for her to play with in her kitchen. She pours it from cup to cup or pours it in her sink. At some point, it usually gets spilled and the she comes running yelling "Mess! Mess!" Today I thought of a better idea, at least one that is a much easier mess to clean up. Dried macaroni. Baby girl is in heaven, cooking away.

We took a walk to the park and played on the playground. There was a family reunion going on in the park so it was a bit crowded.

I decided it was time to go when a grandmother brought her granddaughter over to play. Granny was dressed in a purple, teal and white ankle length skirt paired with a matching teal spaghetti strap tank top that beautifully displayed her belly button ring. Yep, that's right her belly button ring. I don't know if I was more mortified or jealous, 'cause I'm not going to lie grandma had nice abs. Well, from what I could see around the tattoos. Oh, and apparently her granddaughter is a lover, because she came up to me and said "Where's my kisses?" I played like I was deaf and took off.

To keep from running into more of Greenwood's finest citizens we played in our front yard.

When my parents were here, I hung a fish from the tree in our front yard to see if Madison would notice. Well, she did and now we constantly have to have a "bishy" in the tree.

A neighbor saw us playing in the front yard and quickly ran over to see if we wanted a Mommy and daughter picture. Of course I said yes, forgetting the fact that I hadn't even take a shower and I was wearing a hat earlier in the day. Luckily, she cut off my head.

Speaking of when my parents were here, I put them to work and they helped me makeover our bedroom. Here is the before:

And here is the after:

I did most of the trimming, my mom trimmed out the dark blue wall and my dad rolled on all of the paint. Since my mom only trimmed out one wall technically my dad and I did most of the work. However, when Madison comes in to our bedroom she says "Meme paint." So, Meme, who didn't nearly do as much as Papaw and I, is getting all of the credit from Maddie. Thanks kid.

In addition to the black and white prints of Madison in our bedroom, I got a couple for the living room too. I'm in love!

I bought Madison a step stool for her to use to get up into our bed. I thought this would be safer than her standing on the bed side tables to climb into our bed. Well, she has found other uses for the stool.....

Man,I sure do love this kid.

Our Little Opportunity

Here I sit, listing to the hum of the air conditioning and the hustle and bustle of my husband packing. Ryan is getting ready to embark on a ten day work trip. Although the trip will be exciting and memorable for him, we sure are going to miss him. Ryan does so much in the way of helping around the house, playing with Madison while I cook dinner, getting her ready for bed, etc. I'm totally dreading the next week and a half. My partner, my comrade, my number two is going to be gone

Meanwhile, it dawned on me, because my thoughts are in a million different places at all times, I never shared our exciting news. Little miss Madison has booked her first modeling opportunity. Let me back it up a bit and explain. I purchased the dressed featured here online from Hot Tots Boutique. She's just a mama who likes to make pillowcase dresses. Photobucket

Well, she sent out an "all call" email to all of her past clients because she has started a new line of clothing, Lillian Grace Originals. She asked for models who were good in front of the camera. Maddie Cakes has had a camera perched in front of her face since day one. So, after getting the approval from Ryan I submitted the following picture for consideration.

Within a few weeks we learned that Madison had been picked as one of their models. Her shoot will take place on September 24th at 6:30 pm on a farm in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Needless to say, we've got a little road tip ahead of us. I'm assuming the photographs will be used for the future Lillian Grace website and to promote the new line of clothing. For Madison's participation we will receive the outfit that was handmade specifically for her and photographs from the photographer. We are super excited and we're anxious to see how our little gal will do in front of a professional lens.

Gotta go now to spend some time with the hubby before his departure so goodnight!

Two Week Catch Up

Where in the heck have you been?

Alright, I guess the real question is where in the heck have we been.  Well, we've been right here.....with my Mom and Dad.  Yep, that's right Larry and Patty made a visit to see their youngest granddaughter, their tallest son-in-law, their favorite daughter (sorry Christy, truth hurts, I'm the favorite) and the rest of the family too.

We were busy just being together and spending time as a great big family.

We took a trip to the Children's Museum.

The Museum has had a special Dora the Explorer exhibit for months. We've been there twice to this exhibit but this is the first time we've been since Madison has discovered Dora. She flipped out over the statues of Dora and Boots. She kept shouting "Dorda! Dorda! Boots! Boots!"

We also played outside a lot

We also celebrated Ryan's 30th birthday. We had a small cookout with family complete with a hamburger bar. It was awesome thanks to the help and hard work of my family.

Happy Birthday fella!

Madison also received an early birthday gift.  Meme and Papaw went ahead and got Madison her very first tricycle.  They thought she'd be able to ride it now since it will be too cold in November.  We were all shocked to find that Madison's long legs don't quite reach the peddles yet but she sure does love the horn on the steering wheel.

My nephew is playing football this year. We all grabbed our chairs, blankets and hats and headed out to the field for a great game. It was hot and due to a late start we left after the fourth quarter but we were able to see my cute little nephew in action.

The last few days have been so wonderful. I love having my parents around and I love when Maddie gets to spend time with her Meme and Papaw. Mom and Dad left on Monday and Madison has been asking for her Meme and Papaw. I reply "Where are Meme and Papaw?" She simply states "Inoknowwhereheris." (Translation: I don't know where she is.) She runs around but she can't find them.

I know our little girl is left puzzled and one day she will understand.

Bye for now. We won't stay away so long next time.
