It's Study Time

We've been busy, very busy. We've been busy with.....

Operation Show 'Em What You've Got

What is this Operation I speak of, you ask? Well let me just tell you.

I've been looking in to a Montessori school for Madison to begin attending in August. I gave them a call last week to inquire for more information than what was provided on their website. Well, she immediately scheduled us for a school tour and an evaluation of our little angel. I excitedly accepted our appointment for Wednesday at 2:30. After I hung up the phone, I was excited that we are going to see her potential learning environment but then immediately got nervous. What the heck are they going to evaluate a two year old on. I mean she's got a lot going for her she paints like Picasso, she can undress quicker than a stripper trying to make a buck, she can count to fifteen, she can sing her alphabet and other tunes, she can do a somersault, shoot I could go on and on. But I highly doubt that the evaluator is going to be impressed by our daughter's tumbling abilities.

Therefore, I did a quick study. I Googled "Montessori". YouTube presented us with many insights as to what activities a child might do if said child attended a Montessori school. I put my teacher skills to use, finally, and began recreating these activities in our home. This child has to study and I'm hoping she's a quick learner.

Activity One: Spooning - Picking up various sized pom-poms with a spoon from one container and transferring to another container.

Activity Completed...Successfully. Next!

Activity Two: Pouring - Pouring star pasta from cup into jar through a funnel.

Activity Three: Rice - I colored 25 lbs of rice with food coloring. I might have gone a little overboard on this one but she loves it.

This is a great sensory activity which provides a foundation for other activities.

I'm not going to lie though, this one is quite messy. The food coloring comes off but does wash completely away.

And the rice seems to just fly out of the bucket. "It's okay." At least that what Maddie says.

After our cram session all weekend, I feel that our little student is ready. She's ready to show that Montessori school what she's got. Of course, we got her a new outfit as well to show off in. I'll report on the results after our meeting tomorrow. Please cross your fingers for us!

Winter Boredom

Winter has officially set in here in the Midwest. The weather the last few days has gone from snowy and chilly to rainy and strangely warm for January to downright cold and windy. Therefore, we are in hibernation mode. We prefer to stay holed up in our warm and cozy house as opposed to traveling outside and facing the elements.

Photobucket

So, what do two gals do while holed up in their cozy home, you ask? They take pictures.....of themselves of course.  I was the photographer and Madison and I took turns being the subject.

Accessories or props, whatever you want to call them are very necessary. They add pizazz, spunk and spice up any outfit.

Please contact Madison or myself for any fashion tips. We are always willing to lend advice.

I purchased this completely useful and much needed pack of mustaches when Ryan and I were out on our date night. Side note: Said pack of mustaches completely killed date night. I guess a man seeing his lovely wife with a mustache isn't his exact idea of a turn on. Duly noted. Moving on....Once we got in the car, I ripped those suckers open, chose the perfect shape and color of mustache, to match my outfit of course. I placed the mustache perfectly beneath my nose and above my lip, looked into the rear view mirror and said "Holy crap! I look like my dad!" No offense dad, you rocked out that mustache and so do I but wow, what an eye opener.

Who knows what else our boredom might bring.....stay tuned!

A Post for My Dad

Last night over dinner, my sister told me that my dad asked if I was still alive because I hadn't updated the blog in a while. Then this morning I received a short email from my father stating that he is forgetting what Ryan, Madison and I look like but no pressure to update the blog. So sorry Daddy.

I wish I had a lot to report on or some big event that has been going on but I've got nothing. Nothing super, great, nor fantastic has been going on. Just our daily lives. So, for you Daddy and for the others that also take interest in our lives, this is what's been going on with us. Warning: It's not much.

Our little artist is still painting away. At least she's discovered that she doesn't have to paint in the nude now. Painting fully clothed also creates a gorgeous picture.

Our gal paints everyday. No joke, everyday. We have an abundance of pictures that all look very similar but for some reason I have this guilt over throwing any of them away.

We watch the moon from the kitchen window.

We still enjoy enjoy ice cream on cold winter nights.

And we still wear our sunglasses to block the rays bouncing off of the snow. Yes, they are on upside down but girlfriend still rocked them out.

We took a little trip to Bounce Spot where Madison bounced, climbed and flipped for three solid hours.

That's all I've got for now. See, I told you it wasn't much but we'll try to get some excitement going here soon for you.

Lot's of love!
