Oh Happy Day!

It's Mother's Day and I am so thankful that I am a Mama and I have this day to celebrate. I reminded Ryan, several times today, that today is my day therefore, I get to do exactly what I want. He graciously acknowledged the day and let me proceed as I wished. I do have to admit that this really isn't much different from the remaining 364 days of the year. Ryan always graciously let's me proceed as I wish. I think that's why we work so well together.

Speaking of working together, we did just that when we made this little cutie.

Honestly, I'm thankful everyday to have this little blessing, to be a mother, to experience life in a whole new way and to have the family that we have built. It is nice however, to have this one day where my two favs show me just how much they really do love me. Especially my sweet, sweet Madison. Several times today she excitedly exclaimed "Happy Mother's Day, Mama!" Ryan only prompted her once and she just kept it going. I loved it more and more each time she said it.

I spent this weekend focused on our little gal, spending time together, doing the things we both love and putting everything else on the back burner. I got some words of wisdom from a very special person in my life today....Live in the moment. And that is exactly what we did. It felt so good, that we might just keep doing it!

Madison and I took a little trip to the local paint your own pottery joint.  After scouring the shelves of pottery for that one special piece we settled on a pitcher.  Actually she wanted to paint a sock monkey figurine but it was my money and I wanted something we could use and not something we'd have to dust.  So, I won.  Besides....it is Mother's Day.

I have never seen Madison so focused on one task in a long time. We spent forty-five minutes painting this one pitcher using four different colors. She was deliberate in the placement of each brush stroke while turning and turning the pitcher to insure that we covered all of the major areas.

We also worked on trying to ride her tricycle again. She wants to know how to ride it so bad. It's the first thing she asks for once we go outside. Her legs reach now and can go all the way around but she's just not understanding how to push the pedals. Well, when it comes to going forward. Backwards she can do but forward is a different story. So, we will keep trying.

Madison and I dressed alike today. It was awesome! So, of course I had to get some pictures of us. Well, little Miss Bossy Dress decided that she would be in charge and direct the photo shoot. We couldn't hold hands:

On the sidewalk, she had to be there and I here:

She had to sit on this big rock:

Again, no holding hands:

I did threaten her once and told her we weren't going to see her Nana and Pap unless she got right next to me and said cheese:

Hey, you do what you got to do.

A Mini Reveal

Several weeks ago I sent an invitation out to several close friends, co-workers and Facebook friends. Here is the invitation that they received:

I really want to focus this year more on my photography. I've had several ideas that I had been wanting to try and really needed some people to help me with it. Madison is always my "go to" subject but I already have thousands of pictures of her so I wanted to branch out a bit.

I had seven interested families contact me and we set their appointments. I have to admit that I was very nervous for the week leading up to these sessions. I don't know why my nerves kicked in, I guess I just wanted to give my friends and their families some great pictures. I wanted to do well because ultimately I want them to refer me to their friends and family. I think once I get some more photo shoots under my belt, I will learn not to get so nervous. I love every moment of photography from setting the scene, placing the subjects, editing the pictures and delivering the captured moments. It just really is so fun.

I have completed the editing of all the photos and now I am just waiting on the special packaging that I ordered to deliver the discs to my participants. Apparently my initial order got lost in the mail or something so they had to resend it and should be here in the next day or so.  I've had several requests asking to see the pictures. So, I thought I would share one from each mini session that I had.

I began the day with this sweet little gal. I actually went to high school with her mama and her grandmother works with Ryan's mom. She was on the move and loved the balloons!

Next, came a girlfriend from work and her two sweet little boys. I've actually taken their pictures before and it was such a joy to get to do it again.

Another girlfriend from work joined me along with her family. They had never had a picture taken "professionally" of all four of them. This is when I really felt the pressure but I think she might enjoy this one....at least I hope so.

I finished the morning sessions up with these two brothers. They are the silly, fun loving, kind boys of another girlfriend from work. It was so crazy going from the wee little ones to these older boys. They sat where I told them, posed and smiled when I said "Say Cheese!"

My evening sessions began with another gal from high school and her precious little one. The affection that was shared between these two was so precious. This little gal loves her mama to pieces and it was so enjoyable to watch.

Next came another friend from work and her six month old bundle of joy. She was asleep when they arrived, the baby not the mama. The little gal woke up with a smile on and ready for the camera.  She was working those cheeks.

I finished the sessions with another Mama and her two boys. It was tough to get all three together at once because those boys were busy. We were in a park with many distractions around us so I really couldn't blame them. I was fortunate enough to capture this sweet moment.

I really had a lot of fun that day and especially while editing the photos. I would catch myself staring at the computer screen smiling from ear to ear. I'm looking forward to potentially scheduling some shoots as the weather gets better around here so call me!

Love, -K
